I'm behind on my work for Vision. Unfortuantely, my poor copy editor has to suffer for it since I'll be dropping articles on her that I will need back before the end of the month. I not only need to do the first round of edits, but also get the Excel sheet updated and the contracts made up and emailed out. And I need to write a workshop for this issue, but I think I'm going to use something out of my 2YN material (Two Year Novel course at Forward Motion). I just don't think I have the time, or the energy, to come up with anything else.
Although I think I may have just now come up with a theme for the March/April issue -- Research. I wasn't going to do themes this year, but I've discovered that people have an easier time writing for Vision if they have at least a simple idea to get them going. Saying 'I want anything writing related' has not worked out very well.
At any rate, working on Vision today means that my own writing (except for some nonfiction work for the ezine) will drift down to the bottom of the list. I'll get a thousand or so words done on the Dancer outline, but not likely more.
I will be reading for Dragon Tooth as well, though. Need to get caught up there as well!
The work as editor/publisher for the two (Vision and Dragon Tooth) are completely different. First, of course, Vision is nonfiction and the work is short. I also rarely say no to articles for the ezine, since one of the ideas behind Vision was to give new writers a place to get their first publication, as well as provide useful information. Now that we pay a whole half cent a word (laughs) it's even more interesting.
Dragon Tooth is different -- long work, fiction, and I can't accept a novel unless it really does click with me. This means a good story and good writing. I would like perfection but I don't expect it. I've found some good stuff, though!
And now, really, I have to get back to work. Otherwise, my own writing is going to really suffer for it, and I have things to get done there as well!
