I did a bit of work on the outline last night and this morning, and cut it back to something a bit more reasonable, I think. I just didn't think it proper that book two turn out almost twice as long as book one in the series. And I certainly couldn't see the point in writing it that long, and then going back in and cutting it down to size.
And, well, it's not like I need the words for NaNo.
So, instead of another 30-40k I think I have about 20k left. Maybe a bit more. This seems far more reasonable, and will likely tighten up the story quite a bit as well.
Yay!
The first week of NaNo is always intense for me. I love throwing myself into the work, but obviously it's not something that can go on for the entire month. I might do a couple more days of true crazy writing and make it through the last of this novel, but after that....
Well, I am considering a second novel again. I'm trying to decide if I would go with one of the outlined novels I have stored up for 2005, or just run and leap in with something brand new and not outlined instead.
Maybe I should finish this novel first. (grin)
