Darkness Falls (Book 2)

I have begun the second NaNo book for November. This is a far more ambitious story than Bad Connections, and it will take me longer to write. I have an outline, though not as complex as the previous one. And I've already slipped out of it to write an entire four step opening that I hadn't envisioned until I began writing.

The novel is the tale of a small group of humans, the only survivors of earth, and their struggle to survive in an alien culture. It focuses on De Si San, a young man who became Captain of the last surviving ship during a battle that should have destroyed them as well.

I've spent some time creating my aliens and their society. I hope I can write them as well as I have imagined, though I doubt it will happen in the first draft.

I imagine that the first draft is going to be something like 80-100k. I hope to write about 5k a day and have it done by the end of the month. I will do snippets, though maybe not as many as I have done before.

I don't often do the 'end of the world' types of stories. It's an interesting change from my usual relatively upbeat novels.
